For those of you, who like me, have been doing genealogy for many years, I point out to you that the Ben Nevis list for the Andreas Miertschin family
#65 requires a look at the wonderful reproductions of the original list in Weldon Mersiovsky's book. Earlier books by Anne Blasig (The Wends of
Texas, 1954) and by Sylvia Ann Grider (The Wendish Texans, 1982) showing the passenger list identify one of the children as Johanna, daughter and do
not list Johann. With the new book, Passengers on the Ben Nevis and Their Families by Mersiovsky, the original list clearly shows Johann as one of
the "kinder" and does not identify anyone as "daughter." Therefore, Johanna never existed but was a transcription error.
