I baptized 34 children, 19 sons and 15 daughters. Among them is a pair of twins, son and daughter, who are both well. Two sons were stillborn.

I married eight couples.

There were 32 deaths, 18 adults and 14 children.

I communed 1117 members in church and 21 at home. Next we had 19 children who were confirmed.

The Serbin community was divided into two parts last year. A good third had to call a native of the Bautzen community, Mr Palmer as pastor. He moved in on 6 December and settled in front of me on the other side of the church property. I was pastor of the majority. We kept the old wooden church, because the stonework is not yet completed, and this year, God willing, will be completed and all the land belonging to the church. Both churches agreed peacefully and each allowed the other financial compensation. In America such a thing is possible. For here there is freedom.

Von mir getauft wurden 34 Kinder, 19 Söhne und 15 Töchter. Unter ihnen ist ein Zwillingspaar, Sohn und Tochter, die beide gesund sind. Zwei Söhne wurden tot geboren.

Von mir wurden 8 Paare getraut.

Gestorben sind 32, nämlich 18 Erwachsene und 14 Kinder.

Zum Abendmahl hatte ich 1117 Glieder, davon 21 zuhause. Weiter hatte wir 19 Kinder, die konfirmiert wurden.

Die Gemeinde Serbin zerfiel im letzten Jahr in zwei Teile. Ein gutes Drittel hat für sich den in der Bautzener Gemeinde geborenen Herrn Palmer als Pfarrer berufen, der am 6. Dezember umzog und sich vor meinen Augen auf der anderen Seite des Pfarrlandes ansiedelt. Ich blieb Pfarrer der Mehrheit. Sie behielt die alte hölzerne Kirche, da die steinerne noch nicht ausgebaut ist, und in diesem Jahr, gebe Gott, fertig wird und das ganze zur Kirche gehörende Land. Beide Gemeinden einigten sich friedlich und man erlaubte der anderen, daß sie einen finanziellen Ausgleich gibt. In Amerika ist so etwas möglich. Denn hier herrscht Freiheit.
