A. 121. The Bad Trust Money

(From: Loga)
Translated by Ed Bernthal

“I like everything about us.
Only one thing I don’t like,
That I don’t like about us,
That we are still not married.’

“But there still is a high church,
And there is a small church in the town.
In the small church there is a pastor
Who marries all the people.”

“But from all the people he marries,
He takes no money from them,
Except the thick dollars only
And only the French gold pieces.”

‘But let’s just go to him
So that he will marry us.’
The pastor married the girl
And looked her over closely.

“It’s a shame for you, girl,
That you are engaged to a rider.
If you would not go away with him
You could be mine.’

But the rider pulled out his sword
And cut off the pastor’s head:
“Here you have your payment, pastor,
For marrying the girl.”
