Lately, I have been researching the female lines in my family tree: Urban being a married name. What I discovered is that many of these Wendish names in American are found in Wisconsin: more than in Iowa or Texas either one. They date from the same migration period as the two religious communities, but appear to have taken up homesteads there. This result is a limited sampling of mostly maiden names of my Wendish relatives.
