Dear Pastor,

Enclosed you will receive one dollar for the annual subscription of you mission paper that has now expired. I did not order the paper, but still received it. Because I did not return it immediately, I must pay for it. However, while I am sending in the dollar, I would like to know, if the money truly came to you. But do not send me the paper anymore. I am already burdened with the publications that come from my synod. I am getting old, in this month I will reach my 66th year, as God wills and I long for rest. It is a very unique nuisance that a pastor whose name appears in Brobst’s Calendar, receives letters on almost every day the mail is delivered that I cannot take into consideration.

With the request, that my blunt exchange of views, will be considered as well intentioned, I remain in the Lord.

Hochehrwürdiger Herr Pastor!

Anbei empfangen Sie Einen Dollar für den Jahrgang Ihres Missionsblattes, der nun zu Ende ist. Ich habe das Blatt nicht bestellt und doch bekommen. Da ich es aber nicht gleich zurückgewiesen habe, muß ich es bezahlen. Indem ich aber den Dollar einsende, will ich ausfinden, ob das Geld richtig in Ihre Hände kommt. Senden Sie mir das Blatt aber nun nicht mehr. Ich bin schon beschwert genug mit Schriften, welche aus meiner Synode kommen. Ich werde alt, werde in diesem Monat das 66ste Jahr erreichen so Gott will und sehne mich nach Ruhe. Es ist eine ganz besondere Plage Amerika’s daß ein Pastor dessen Name in Brobst’s Kalender aufgeführt ist, fast an jeden Posttage Briefe bekommt, die er nicht berücksichtigen kann.
