Song and Prayer.
Address by the President. According to the Synodical Constitution, each congregation of the Synod is to be visited every three years. It is desired that there would be a German and a Wendish congregation in Serbin. This plan was discussed by the congregation councils. But according to the minutes of these meetings, which were discussed, passed and signed, the elders and the congregation were not bound, because the power to decide the question lay in the voters meeting of the congregation.

It was decided unanimously by the Wends, 50 in number, and by the Germans, 10 in number, that in the St. Paul’s Congregation everything would remain as of old.

After this, an admonition was directed in the Wendish and the German language to those congregation members who had still not contributed to the construction of the new church. It was also stated that it was necessary that the congregation meetings be better attended, than they had been up to now.

It was approved that there would be a list of congregation members, which would be handed over to the other congregation, so that a list from the other congregation could be received.

Finally, there was a reminder, that children, who had the talents, should be given over to become teachers or pastors.

Also the other congregation was made mindful of the benefit from the practice that had been decided that, for the partaking of the Holy Lord’s Supper, registration to the pastor should be made.

Both congregation meetings decided that a bridal couple, who are members of both congregations, should be heard out.

A collection for the traveling expenses of the President was taken up, which amounted to $15.80, and was immediately publicly handed over.

Gemeindeversammlung (der St. Paulsgemeinde) am 21 Januar 1874 im Gegenwart des Hernn Visitator P. Tirmenstein

Gesang und Gebet
Anrede des Herrn Präses. Nach der Synodalordnung sei jede Gemeinde der Synode alle drei Jahre zu visiteren. Es sei zu wünschen, das in Serbin Eine Deutsche und Eine Wendische Gemeinde werde. Dieser Plan war mit den Gemeinderäthen besprochen. An dies Protokol aber, das über diese Besprechum aufgesetzt und unterzeichnet wurde, seien die Vorsteher nicht gebunden u. auch die Gemeinde nicht. Denn die Macht, die Frage zu entscheiden, liege in der Gemeindeversammlung.

Die Wenden, 50 in der Zahl, und die Deutschen, 10 in der Zahl, beschlossen einstimmig, das in der Gemeinde zu St.Paul alles beim alten bleiben soll.

Darauf wurde eine Ermahnung in Wendischer und Deutschen Sprache an diejenigen Gemeindeglieder gerichtet, welche noch nichts zum Kirchenbau gegeben haben. Es wurde auch für nothwendig erklärt, das die Gemeindeversammlungen besser besucht werden, als bisher geschehen ist.

Es wurde für gut erklärt, das eine liste der Gemeindeglieder da sei, welche der andern übergeben werden kann, damit man von der andern Gemeinde eine Liste Ihrer Glieder empfangen könne.

Zuletzt geschah eine Erinnerung, das man Kinder, die Fähigheiten haben, hergeben solle, damit Lehrer und Pastor aus ihnen werde.

Auch wurde die Gemeindeversammlung auf den Nutzen der in andern Gemeinde bescheiden Einrichtung aufmerksam gemacht, das die Gemeindeglieder von den Genus des heil. Abendmahls beim Pastor sich anmelden sollen.

Von beiden Gemeindeversammlungen ist bechlossen, das Brautleute, die aus beiden Gemeinde sind die auszuhören wollen.

Eine Collecte zu den Reisekosten des Herrn Präses wurde erhoben, welche 15 Dollars 80 Cts. austrug und den Herrn Präses sofort öffentlich überreicht wurde.
