Johann Gruetzner property
On 5 June 1872, Johann Gruetzner purchased several parcels of land in the John Brown survey of what was then Burleson County and which would become
part of Lee County upon its creation in 1874. Taken together, the parcels contained 1,025 acres and cost Johann $2,500.00 in gold. On 14 July 1872,
Johann sold 114 acres to his brother-in-law, Rev. Johann Proft, for a price of $285.00 in gold. The parcel sold to Rev. Proft lay at the intersection
of the west boundary of the Brown survey and the channel of the West Yegua Creek, on the south side of the creek. Johann Gruetzner died 17 August
1872.
