Luther's "Christian Guide for Each Day"

Tuesday 07 May 2013 at 10:24 am.

The Lord is my Refuge, my Help, my Shelter, so that I shall not fall. Psalm 62:7.

He wants to say that my help or salvation comes from the Lord. Why? Because: I have not placed any human being, no matter how great, mighty, or rich he might be, to be my refuge, comfort and salvation, nor have I placed my heart and hope upon him, instead I have chosen God - from Whom shall and will come all goodness and salvation - to do this.  If I believe this, then I can be reassured and certain, even if also evil Turks, barbarian emperors and evil, wrathful kings and princes reigned, and each, one after another, dropped in for nine year lengths, along with all the devils.

This one was tough to translate, hope I didn't miss the mark too badly.

In Christ,

Elmer H.
