Luther's "Christian Guide for Each Day"

Monday 20 May 2013 at 6:40 pm.

19 May

Come to Me all you who are overworked and over-burdened, I will give you rest.  Matthew 11:28.

The Almighty God does not desire the death of sinners, rather that they turn to Him and live(Ezek. 18:23). It is His earnest desire and intention, also order, decided from eternity, to save all people and make them recipients of the eternal joys of His grace which reaches and stretches out from beginning to end, from mid-day to midnight, and overshadows all who convert, truly contritely repent, and themselves want to become partakers of His grace and desire His help. To this there belongs a true, genuine faith which drives out all despair and doubt, a faith which is our righteousness, as is written in Romans 2:22: This righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ comes from God to all who believe. Notice those two words 'to all', so that you also don't belong among those and be one of those who lie in cahoots with sinners and fight with them to receive their field-badge. And if your heart persuades you to do that, then stop doing so and stop erring. You of course have a good, straight, correct way, which God Himself shows you with His own finger, of how He is minded towards you, as He calls out with a loud voice: (Matthew 3:17) This is My Son Whom I love and delight in. Listen to Him! Listen to what He has to tell you and advise you! And in case you then were to become hardheaded and stuck-up and became totally deaf and like a doubting, stuck-up person who refused to lift his eyes up to heaven, and also turned a deaf ear, so that you don't see nor hear God the Father calling out from on High, then you still should hear and see the Son, Who stands on the Way over which every person has to pass through, and in like manner - indeed far more steadfastly - listen to Him call, Who with great sounds like a mighty trumpet, blasts forth, like it is gloriously written in Matthew 11:28. Come to Me! Come to Me! Come to Me!

OUCH! OUCH! SCREAMS MY ARTHRITIC BODY - BUT I THANK OUR SAVIOR FOR SEEING ME THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT ONE!

Come to Jesus!

In His Name, Elmer H.

Hi Rev. Hohle! I appreciate the work you’re doing here. And I read every one, usually reading several once or twice a week. Thanks. I’m reminded that I still need to contact your son-in-law for a picture of what’s hanging in their home. Will contact him later this week. Thanks again!
