The Reverend Dr. Elmer Hohle started life as the youngest son and child in a sharecropping family in
the small Central Texas community of The Grove in Bell County, Texas. He became a Lutheran pastor, fraternal insurance representative (worker priest), and is now retired near Liberty Hill, Texas. He has written A Year with Jesus,
a series of devotions for his church; his woodblock prints are hanging in Concordia University, Texas and elsewhere.
He is engaged in the translating of German to English the works of Lutheran theologian Johann Gerhard,
and writes a devotional column for the Liberty Hill Leader.

Many of Pastor Hohle’s writings are in his Wendish Research Exchange blog titled “The Hohle Grail”.
Currently, as his arthritis and pain permits, he is translating Martin Luther’s “Christlicher Wegweiser für
Jeden Tag.” ("Christian Guide for Each Day"). As he translates, they are posted to “Luther's Christian Guide For Each Day”.
Here is a link to Pastor Hohle's translation of the November 1988 Devotions of Taegliche Andachten by Dr. Fred Kramer.
