I have not come to send peace, but rather the sword. I have come to set a man against his father and the daughter against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man's enemies shall be the members of his own household. Matthew 10:34-36.
All the conflicts and wars of the Old Testament have been images of the preaching of the Gospel, this must and should cause disputes, disagreements, quarrels and unrest. Christendom has stood in such circumstances since the time of the Apostles and Martyrs, when it was in its best stance. It is a blessed unrest, uproar and turmoil that the Word of God stirs up. From it there arises true faith, arises again the suffering and persecution and the true essence of Christian people.
And God enabled me to do this translation amidst the arising of some severe physical pains in my body - a sharp 'thorn in the flesh' (cf. 2 Cor. 12:7 ff.) to remind me that God's grace is all-sufficient for me... and may it be all-sufficient for you also.
