My Wendish mother and my Wendish grandmother loved to grow flowers in the yard and cut them and place them on the table in the house. Under their influence, I grew up with a great appreciation of a yard full of flowers and other forms of floral beauty. Unlike the two of them, I did not have a green thumb, but, even at a young age, I had the ability to draw and color flowers of all kinds. Over the years, I have tried to capture some of the breath-taking beauty of flowers by using my favorite technique of combining pen and ink sketching and water-coloring. Here are some of the many “flower” works I have done.
