For a long time there has been nothing here to hear about, but now I will grab my pen and write a few lines to The Volksblatt.
At the present time it is terribly hot, and quite dry. Here and there some places have had a nice rain, but none has arrived here yet.
Mr. August Domaschke has been seriously ill for many weeks with limb paralysis from an accident that could have been avoided. He was busy with his brother-in-law hauling logs. In the process of laying heavy wood lengths in his arms, his brother-in-law dropped the wood in his arms unexpectedly, damaging Mr. Domaschke’s limbs and knocked him to the ground, which paralyzed his limbs. In spite of medical care and attention, there is very little hope for his recovery.
Weddings and surprise birthday parties were the order for the day for the last couple of days, and even the rattling stork has not been too busy here of late, but previously has been quite active in the Warda community.
So, today then, Mission Festival was in Winchester, and I, my better half and Miss Martha Domaschk went there and were very friendly received by Mr John Noack, Sr., and his gracious wife.
They were the best of hosts and we, after our tragedy, give our heartfelt thanks for their gracious hospitality.
During the morning service, worship was conducted by Pastor Bierman from Cypress, and the afternoon service was conducted by our pastor from Warda.

Werthen Leser!
Seit längerer Zeit war von hier nichts zu hören, somit ergreife ich die Feder, um einige Zeilen im das Volksblatt zu richten.
Gegenwärtig haben wir hier furchtbar heiss, u. auch ziemlich trocken. Stellenweise ist ja ganz schöner Regen gefallen aber bis hierher hat er noch nicht gelangt.
Herr Aug. Domaschke liegt schon seit mehreren Wochen bedenklich schwer krank an Glieder Lähmung darnieder. Derselbe war mit seinem Schwager mit Tost fahren beschäftigt. Während sie nun eine schwere Holzlange auf den Armen liegen, liess sein Schwager die Stange fallen und riss dieselbe Herrn Domaschke zu Boden, welches die Glieder Lähmtig herbeifürhte. Trotz ärztlicher Behandlung hat man sehr wenig Hoffnung auf seine Genesung.
Hochzeiten und Geburtstagsüberraschungen waren im der letzten Zeit am der Tagesordung und auch der Klapper Storch lässt sich nicht lumpen sondern ist im letzter Zeit gar sehr thätig in der Umgegend von Warda.
Da heute Missionsfest war in Winchester so begaben wir uns (ich, meine bessere Hälfte sowie Frl. Martha Domaschk) schon gestern nach dorthin, u. wurden von Herrn Johan Noack, Sr u. Gattin, freundlich aufgenommen, u. auf das beste bewirtet wozu wir hier noch nach träglich unseren herzlichsten Dank sagen für die freundliche Bewirtung. Währen des Vorm. Gottesdienst predigte Past. Bierman von Cypress u. Nachm. predigte unser Pastor von Warda.
